At Vegetable Land, we have been raising vegetables and foraging the natural habitat in an ecologically respectful and sustainable manner since two thousand seven. We use no herbicides or pesticides, organic or otherwise. We use complex organic fertilizers low in immediately available nitrogen that contain dozens of micronutrients. We plant large swaths of insect habitat within our raised bed gardens and let flower and seed whatever will. We plant cover crops and living mulches, water scarcely, and disturb as little as possible. We began our food venture at Red Lee’s old gambling cabin on springfield road, encouraged by a locally focused restaurant and the upswing of interest in actual food in the area. Over the next few years we expanded our gardens, learned how best to grow our tried and true crops, and established contacts through farmer’s markets, restaurants, and local grocers. We are proud to offer our ultra nutritious weeds, our wild foraged fruit, nuts, mushrooms, and greens, and our plants, seeds, and garden advice in addition to our open pollinated, beyond organic, nutrient dense garden fare from arugula to zucchini to all of our fellow humans on this wild ride.
Since Two Thousand Twelve we have been transforming our produce into acclaimed vegan meals. Always Pay What You Want, these meals have come to represent 'what food should be about', healthy, local, conscious, delicious, and more to many of our brave and aware partners. We are excited to be transitioning to our new home in the magical shawano land of flourite, raised mountains, and glaciated seas by offering our food through new avenues, including forest pop up dining, RAWstarant mobile dining, sunflower centered food, and our foraged and 'plant based pastoralized' produce and advice in a club format. Always thankful and overawed by the enthusiasm of others, we feel like it is time to allow and encourage all to be more involved and cooperative. Yes I. Endless respect.
